The UP College of Mass Communication (UP CMC), through the Office of Extension and External Relations (OEER), will conduct the 2013 Media Literacy Seminar-Workshop on April 24-26, 2013 at the UP College of Mass Communication Auditorium, Plaridel Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City. This three-day seminar-workshop aims to assist primary and secondary school teachers in enabling their students to use the various forms of media in an informed and critical manner and to help them in incorporating media literacy concepts (now stipulated in the new K to 12 program) in their other subjects.
Themed “Media Literacy: Responding to DepEd’s K to 12 Basic Education Program,” the seminar-workshop’s offerings have been realigned to make sure they are attuned to the K to 12 program, readily useful and applicable to our target participants, and to ensure high impact, not only on the teachers but, ultimately, on Filipino students. This seminar-workshop uses widely accepted framework of media literacy and will be conducted by experts from the field who are educators as well as practitioners. Topics in this workshop include: Print & Online News; Film; Radio and Television; and Emerging/New Media.
The registration fee amounts to Three Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (PhP 3,500), which covers the morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, seminar-workshop kit, and certificate of participation. This seminar-workshop has been endorsed by the Department of Education through their advisory (D.A. No 142 s 2013).
