The University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) and Inha University’s Institute of Culture Management held an international conference on October 8, 2010 (Friday) at the CMC Plaridel Hall in UP Diliman.
Called the Asian Media Cooperation and Cultural Exchange, its objective is to strengthen international academic and cultural exchange in the culture management, media studies discipline, as well as to promote the knowledge of Asian culture. The conference aims to bring together scholars from the Philippines, Korea and other Asian countries to discuss issues related to Asian culture and media.
Keynote speakers were Drs. Sundeep Muppidi (University of Hartford, USA), Caroline Hau (Kyoto University, Japan) and Jacqueline Aquino Siapno (Universidade da Paz, East Timor).
Twenty-three paper presenters from the Philippines, Korea, Australia and the United Kingdom will gave their presentations during the sessions after the keynote speeches. The sessions are divided into six: Negotiating Change, Reading Cultural Signs, Exploring Spaces, Audiovisual Media, Struggles of the Other and Tech Effects.
The conference is organized with the support of the Asian Institute of Tourism of UP Diliman.
